Toil and Trouble - Wax Melts

I love that Toil & Trouble came back! It has a fantastic herby/incense scent that fits perfectly with the autumnal season.

There's something about this scent that reminds me of a bowl that was smoked last week. That said, I don't dislike it! That kind of blunt woodsy green. And I don't think that comes through quite as much when lighting. I turn to this candle when I want to have a sharp, clean earthy/herb gardeny environment. It's just a little strong for me personally.

This candle scent just isn't for me. I was kinda hoping for a scent similar to Witches' Brew - another seasonal candle by Yankee. I'd compare the two as Witches' Brew having a little more mellow undertones and Toil and Trouble having some sharper undertones. It smelled a little like a cleaner to me. Swing and a miss, but I'm glad I tried it out and will continue to support Frostbeard Studio's experimentation!

This is a wonderful scent that is fresh, intriguing, and reasonably strong as a wax melt.

This is a very green scent, but that is usually my preference. Reminds me of young pine cones and has almost a spiciness to it. I'm giving 4 stars because there's some time in the meltdown where this smells like toothpaste -- more minty than herbaceous. Still very happy with my purchase. Unique scent!

I love this scent! It is pretty subtle but it does make me think of all the herbs and things witches would collect and brew!

First time trying Frostbeard Studio and I am pleasantly surprised. The candle melts are easy to use and smell really good!

As a patchouli lover I was very excited about this candle and I was disappointed to find out how truly mild the scent is. Even while the candle burns next to me I can't smell much of anything.

I burned this wax melt during a Halloween party I hosted and everyone kept asking me where I got it and what it was called. Smells like you walked into a witch's house. Will be stocking up when this one comes back.

The herby, spice scent of this is just divine. I feel like I need to be surrounded by crystals and meditation music. The patchouli is pretty strong but tempered by the other scents. It definitely says candlelight bath to me.

It does give off a certain vibe that I really liked. Good throw, too.

This one checks all the boxes for me. It transports you when you’re reading, creates a vibe in your home when you’re winding down, and gets you ready for the fall season. Plus it smells amazing

I loved this scent. It's not a typical scent for the autumn season, and I kind of wish that it was available in the spring. Highly recommend if you enjoy refreshing scents.

This is a heady blend of incense and herbs, fits right in to the autumn atmosphere.

This scent is nice but not a favourite of mine. It does bring to mind the smell of a wet forest floor and leaves decomposing so perfect for a Halloween scent.

Lush fans will know Lord of Misrule. This smells so similar! The lovely grounding smell of the patchouli and then a subtle sweetness is there too. The perfect color green makes this a beautiful candle to light around Halloween or anytime!

I'm really not a patchouli kind of person. When I saw this candle had patchouli in it, I played it safe and got the 2 oz sample. I was pretty surprised that I loved it so much. It blended so nicely and was such a wonderful herby-earthy scent, I went back and got the 8 oz. For whatever reason I had expected divination classroom with a riff, but it's not.
I would say it's medium to strong. Didn't cap it after burning and the next day walked into a very nicely scented room.

Sweet, slightly soapy, with notes of lime. When lit, the scent profile is almost like a citrus insense with a medium throw.
I would suggest Frostbeard add a few more earthy notes to the candle (e.g. Book Cellar; Old Forrest) to round out the soapy notes.

This is a pleasantly herbal fragrance— very woodsy and dewy. It is a fairly powerful scent, but it is pleasant and relaxing. I really enjoy it. (Also, I would want to inhale this scent all day if I had a cold— the sensation of sniffing the candle recalls drinking soothing tea). A wonderful scent for the autumn!

I definitely get the "witches cauldron in the woods" motif from this blend. It's a fun scent for Halloween, for sure. My husband likes it more than I do, so I can fairly say that it will appeal to those that like masculine notes. Thank you for your creativity! It's always fun! :)

It wasn’t a personal favorite, but it bad either. It has a very sharp herbal scent warmed slightly by the patchouli. Great for setting a spooky mood! Just not a favorite for every day use. Otherwise, as usual, quality product and amazing service!

I realize this is meant to be a fall/Halloween-y scent, but for me, it's redolent of green, mossy rock piles in a thick forest. I'm a sucker for patchouli, but I found the plant and wood notes to be much stronger. I don't think I'd burn this every day, but for just the right mood, it's perfect for my study.

Absolutely lovely. Its a very refreshing, slightly spicy scent thst isn't overwhelming. My boyfriend said he'd love a deodorant to smell like this! I've ordered at least 20 candles from Frostbeard and this is one of my favorites! I wish I had ordered it in a larger size!

This is my first candle of the month from Frostbeard Studio and I'm so impressed! Based on the description I probably wouldn't have purchased this for myself, but I'm grateful for the subscription because I love this scent so much. To me it's distinctively a fall candle, but definitely unusual. It's earthy and refreshing, sort of like a farmer's market in the fall. I love it!

this scent is so clean with just the right amount of bite. fragrant but not overpowering, very herbal like a walk in the woods!

This is a fantastic candle to burn in a small room, such as a bedroom or bathroom, due to its medium scent. The candle has an earthy smell that I find extremely pleasant but not overpowering. The green color is also amazing and goes with the witches' brew theme that this candle has going on. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a calming scent, just keep in mind that it isn't a very strong scent and works better in smaller areas.
